James Chukwueze Obialor popularly known as James Brown, is a Nigerian internet personality, dancer and cross dresser who was noted in 2018 following a viral video in which he said the phrase “They did not caught me” following an arrest by the police. He was arrested alongside 46 others for being allegedly gay and spent a month at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility. The case against them was later dismissed by a court.
Brown released a single titled “Hey Dulings” in 2021 after a catchphrase he uses to address his fans on social media. Today, James Brown is considered the second most popular crossdresser in Nigeria behind his once godmother Bobrisky. Aside from crossdressing, James Brown is a popular social media influencer and brand promoter who has a number of Nigerian fans and followers across his social media handles.
James Brown made it to fame after he was arrested at a gay party in Kelly Ann hotel at Egbeda, Lagos. His grammatical blunder during the arrest earned him the nickname, ”They did not caught me”.
Ever since the video from the arrest went viral, James Brown built on the fame to become a crossdresser on social media.
James Brown, in his arrest in 2018, claimed he was HIV positive from birth; he would, however, later debunked it, saying he said so to get out of detention.
The Nigerian crossdresser was also featured in a documentary with popular American pay-TV HBO. Apart from crossdressing, James Brown is a singer, and earlier this year, he dropped a song titled ‘Hey Durlings.’
